‘coda’, a noun

  • a piece at the end of a longer piece, usually separate from the basic structure

This essay aims to promote and strengthen existing democracy, and not to undermine or replace institutions. By a series of principles, the essay articulates the creation of interlocking ‘add-ons’ or ‘firewalls’ for democratic systems, to insulate from the damaging effects of corruption.

These are called the Coda principles, for they are applied to our hard-won and precious democratic systems, in response to our current needs. These principles do not promote one ideology over another, except to the extent that they are a bulwark against any ideology which could establish slavery.
